As the town’s first district school, the school was renamed “Virginia Blanchard” in honor of a tenured teacher and principal in the same district . Honoring that legacy, the Blanchard School Apartments, maintains the footprint of the historic school and expands on it to create brand new affordable housing for  twenty-five households.
